About the Aguero

Agüero's 1666 Miscelaneo Espiritual is compilation of smaller books which have been bound together into a single volume. These include a catechism, a confessional, a set of exempla (miracle stories), prayers, and discussions of the rosary. This book is important for Zapotec studies, since it has many discussions of 17th century cultural practices viewed as sinful, as well as narratives.
